Zinzan Brooke, All Black No 8

Rugby World Cup Withdrawal

25 Oct 2011, 8:28 AM by Felicia Severns

There's a big gaping hole this week where enthusiasm and excitement for the RWC Tournament in New Zealand has been warming the heart for the last 7 weeks. Feelings of hope and pride for the Welsh, heartbreak for the battling Scots, fear, anger and then ultimate respect for Les Bleus, admiration for the plucky Irish, total delight for the conquering All Blacks winning on home ground; we've run the gamut of emotions, and it's been an awesome rollercoaster!

And then there's England. So many world class players on that team, such confidence, such a strong pre-tournament campaign....I can't even begin to put into words where it all might have started going wrong. Maybe Victor will have some thoughts after his long flight home....?

Anyway, not to worry...the Premiership is bursting back into action, the World 7s are just around the corner, and then we have the 6 Nations to look forward to!

We'll continue to bring you snippets from our series of 'In Touch With....' to celebrate all that's fantastic about the international stars of rugby. And no one could be more fitting this week, than the all star All Black Zinzan Brooke, who was at one of VU's recent events.

Zinny is a true hero of test rugby, in New Zealand and beyond and every time you watch him sink that 47m drop goal in the 1995 World Cup, you can completely see why.
