Following the huge success of the inaugural event, Cyclothon UK returns to Brands Hatch on Thursday 13 September 2012. Cyclothon UK is a team relay, road cycling endurance race round the Grand Prix Circuit. Charities, corporations and individuals are encouraged to enter a team of 4-8ppl to challenge themselves and each other in a relay event of 8 or 12 hours of road cycling endurance around the track.
Fantastic prizes are up for grabs, as hundreds of cyclists of all abilities will race the iconic closed circuit of the official 2012 Paralympic Road cycling venue.
In 2011, challengers raced against England legends Rory Underwood, Phil De Glanville, Jon Callard and Ian Hunter (Team Bulldogs) and Nigel Redman, Chris Sheasby, Mark Regan MBE, and Victor (Team Heavies). Craig Chalmers, Doddie Weir and David Hilton made up the Scottish contingent under the name Team Jocks.
Together, over £30,000 was raised last year for various charities and competitors can choose to race for their favorite charity, or just come together to ride in a team challenge. For the ultimate endurance test, a solo rider category (8 or 12 hours) is open also.
